Meet Kendall Lopez from Costa Rica

So here we are at a secluded farm at Costa Rica. Here, we get to watch the rain a lot and as Kendal told us, after the rain, you can hear the birds singing beautiful melodies. He's right.

La Fortuna

After a quick stop in San Jose, La Fortuna was our first chance to put our foot on the ground and look around. We stayed for five days and caught our breath. We're here. We're in Central America. Now what? Here are some first pictures, first impressions, first babbling/gushing thoughts about starting the Central American leg of our nomadic family adventure.

Leaving What We Loved

When the time to go went from months to weeks, I freaked out. I love my life in Northern Israel. I do.I love the school we established two years ago, I love my friends, I love my job as a family therapist with a radio show. I love the nature and the pace of life in the Upper Galilee Valley of Israel. I love my home! The thought of leaving behind all that I love, deeply love, was terrifying. Why in the Hell Would I Throw Away a Perfectly Good, Rewarding LIfe? Why? Here are the last glimpses into the world we left, before becoming a nomadic family.

First Breath of Costa Rica

We've arrived in Costa Rica. After two months on the road, from Israel to New York, to Houston, across three states in an RV, to California, back to Houston, and now, finally we've landed in Central America. Here is a collection of what we saw and the things we remember in the blur of flights, taxis, buses, and new everything.

Redefining Our Paradigms

Before becoming a nomadic family, we lived in Israel for almost 8 years. People always ask me if it's scary living in that war-torn desert. What you know about The Holy Land is what the media wants you to know. Let's put it this way; if i listened to the media and to what other people have told me regarding how I 'should' be raising my children in the stability bubble; I would never have left the comforts of my lovely home to become a nomadic family. As a messanger, if you will, of my home land, below are some short and awesome movies about Israel, made by our family and others.

Knowing Jesse

I am in the airport on the way to what has become an exciting speaker tour in California. I stop for just a sec at the book store [of course!] and a book catches my eye. It has on it the photograph of a young family- mother, father, and son. The son is in a wheelchair and has the same look on his face, the same facial features as my teacher Noga Gazit’s daughter Noa does. I flip through it and see lovely pictures of the boy, named Jesse, and precious poems that Jesse has written over the years. There was one about when he swims he feels alive, and the picture shows a six year old with his eyes closed, the look of a calm angel, in the arms of his father.
