En Route to Panama

En route from Costa Rica to Panama, we discover all sorts of fun things: our rockiest movie yet, candy health commercials, and It's your typical family road trip but in Central American!

Cloud Forest 4 x 4

In this movie, Kobi drives off the main road into a cloud forest using the 4 x 4 drive for the first time. He loved it! I just got my head banged around a lot. This and a few more things we bumped into in Costa Rica, during our road trip.

We've stopped backpacking for as long as each Latin American country will allow us to cross its borders with our new 4 x 4. We're suddenly able to do more than volunteer, but to actually see the countries we're volunteering in. How cool is that?

Candy Health Commercial

Orazi made this adorable commercial up in Hebrew, and then (how kind is God!) recorded it just for mama in English too. WE LOVE IT WHEN THEY SPEAK IN ENGLISH! We've spoken to them in English their entire lives, and still it was only after spending the first two months of our round-the-world adventure in the States, did we know they could actually speak. Now that we are in Costa Rica, we've heard them use their English more and more, even with each other occasionally. Today, Orazi and Solai weren't feeling so hot, and both threw up about thirty seconds from one another. We bought them (actually Orazi bought them all) these huge teeth-decaying lollipops and suddenly, everyone's health miraculously blossoms.

Men With Knives

Watch the Klaf Men strut their stuff. They both have knives and generously use them, to our greatest benefit.Orazi has used almost three weeks of his allowance to buy a beautifully hand-carved knife from an artist David in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. He has to ask us permission to use it each time cuz it's super sharp. This is day two with his knife and he's excited to take care of his sisters using it.Kobi's knife (his machete actually) is a gift from Don Jose Ramon, and one we'll cherish for a long time. Jose Ramon even sharpened it for us before we left La Lucha de la Tigra. Kobi, also uses his knife today.
Notice the loveliness of it all. We're all sharing, working for our food, passing the coconut from one to the other. I watch this video and say, "Ah! I want my family to be a family like that one! I want those magic family moments! Ahhh!" (I know! We'll take them when we can get them)
