We were lucky enough today to bump into Ryan at Half-Throttle.com.Why were we lucky? A few reasons:
a- he's a nice guy and jumped on the trampoline with my kids
b- he's a nice guy and ate my food even though he's a picky eater
c- he showed us how to finally use adobe premiere so that we can start making decent videos with cool effects
d- he is another great role model for those who wish to travel the world and make money.
Ryan actually MAKES MONEY online from his YouTube channel, and no one in the world deserves it more (but us, of course).
In this interview, I asked Ryan to give us some info about how he makes money online so we'll know how to travel more.

"It's simple," he told us over lunch, "Start making movies. You'll make some sucky videos on your way to making great videos. So, just start making them." The origins of his channels started back in 2006 when Ryan rode his motorbike from the US down through Mexico and Central America. Just in case I didn't say it clearly, he's a great guy with one great story.
As is classic, in our three minutes of talking, every imaginable noise-making entity in Panama magnetized to us. It's funny. We couldn't stop laughing about it,. How many dogs, men with grass-cutters, functioning construction tools from the neighbors, and birds can you count? Dear God, give us a break!
We've checked out his YouTube channel, and he's got great movies about motorcyles, travel, the indigenous, and life. I recommend his top ten videos on his channel.

Some pictures of Ryan and the kids! Talk about 'Kids Need Socialization"- in two minutes flat Orazi befriended Ryan at Tuesday Morning with the Gringos and invited him over to our house. Gotta love it!

Sooo... how does he actually make money on YouTube? Selling ads, presumably. But does he have any guidance for us newbies about that?
He makes great videos that people can't wait to watch. He releases almost a movie a day and has close to 8000 subscribers. He doesn't place ads, YouTube places does. They put ads on his movies and he gets paid every month based on how many people clicked his ads. Very sweet deal. You can check out his site at www.half-throttle.com. He talks a lot more about movies and such, and always answers any further questions people throw his way. Also, he's just a cool guy to know
